This is a really nice recreation area. There is plenty of hiking and interesting things like Alibates flint quarry. The lake and views are fantastic and there is great wildlife, including roadrunners:-)
This is a great area for a weekend trip. Would certainly recommend it for camping and hiking.
Big reservoir. Pool is low. Lots of free camping around the lake. Seems like all the boat ramps are open. Lots of fishermen even though the weather windy.
Loved how you can pull up right to the water and camp out. Bathrooms are not the best but it's a Lake sooooo what can you expect. Had a great family weekend!!
Great Lake with different places to camp , all of the have bathrooms , most of them showers . Boat ramps everywhere , make sure you pick the best one according to what your preferences are. Also make sure you keep your dog on a leash she was sprayed by a skunk. Snakes are swimming in the lake be careful and enjoy you time with beautiful views
Uncle Sam has done himself proud. It’s been 20+ years since I’d been to lake Meriden and had heard that because of water levels it had been run down. THANKFULLY NOT SO! Very enjoyable place to disperse camp, even has some full hook up sites (didn’t enquirer about price as there was so many excellent free spots ). We’ll make a point to stop here on our future travels.
Beautiful area, we were there for hunting but it was a total bust this season, didn't see any deer at all
Fantastic site. Great views awesome rangers. Recreational heaven.
Lake Meredith and Alibates are basically the same NPS unit. The Alibates visitor center is well off the beaten path, and pretty small, but the area is beautiful and they have interesting interpretive displays and a movie worth watching. Several trails throughout the area to explore.
